Hello! My name is

Andrea Scaglioni

Since October 2024, I am a Postdoc researcher in computational mathematics at University of Vienna (Univie).

I focus on Uncertainty Quantification of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). I use high-dimensional interpolation methods (e.g. Sparse Grid Interpolation) to produce a surrogate model of the random solution. In my Ph.D. thesis, I simulated the stochastic dynamics of a micromagnetic system.

In October 2024 I received a Ph.D. degree from Technical University of Vienna (TU Wien). In 2019 I received a master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering from EPFL (Switzerland).

I am open to work from Q1 2025. Read my CV and Get in Touch!

  • On 21.10.2024 I successfully defended my Ph.D. thesis at TU Wien! Thanks to all those who in different ways helped me to get here! My dissertation is publicly available here.
  • Since 01.10.2024, I am a Postdoc in the group of Prof. Ilaria Perugia at University of Vienna. Looking forward to meeting the new colleagues and setting up new collaborations!
  • On 30.9.2024, I’m giving a presentation titled: “Sparse grid approximation of stochastic PDEs. Application to Stochastic Micromagnetics” at the High-dimensional methods in stochastic and multiscale PDEs workshop held at TU Wien (Austria). See the page of the workshop.
  • If you are a VSM student at TU Wien and want to gain valuable event organization experience, you should become part of the VSM Student Board! Get in touch or drop by at my office, I’m happy to tell you more!

  • On 29.09 and 1.10.2024 the VSM event “Workshop on Career Outside of Academia” takes place at TU Wien.  Thanks to TU Career Center for holding the course. In the afternoon on 1.10, five industry guests participate in a panel discussion. Being part of the organizing committee, I’m delighted we made this happen!
  • On 11.09.2024, I’m presenting on “Sparse grid approximation of nonlinear SPDEs: The Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation” at the Sparse Grid and Application seminar held at Bonn University (Germany). You can read more on the Event Program.
